Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KP2MI) has opened registration for the second batch of the 2026 SMK Go Global Indonesian Migrant Worker Capacity Building Programme, running from 28 September to 31 October 2026.

“We want this opportunity for competency enhancement to be utilised by vocational school (SMK) graduates and the general public who wish to prepare themselves for working abroad,” said Minister for P2MI, Mukhtarudin.

In a statement from KP2MI on Sunday, he noted that the programme was developed by the government to strengthen the skills and readiness of prospective Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI) in facing the demands of the international labour market.

Mukhtarudin stated that the opening of the second batch expands opportunities for the public to access training relevant to international work requirements. He emphasised that the skills already possessed by SMK graduates must continually be adjusted to meet the evolving needs of labour in destination countries.

“SMK students already possess foundational skills. It is now a matter of how we further increase their capacity so that those skills become increasingly aligned with the needs of the working world, including the needs of the workforce abroad,” he said.

Mukhtarudin emphasised that SMK Go Global is not exclusively for vocational school graduates but is also open to the general public who meet the requirements. “SMK Go Global is not just for SMK; it is for the general public. If there are Diploma (D3), Bachelor’s (S1), or Master’s (S2) graduates who wish to apply, please do so,” he added.

The programme provides two types of training: language training and competency training based on specific job sectors. Training fields include healthcare, hospitality, agriculture, and transportation.

Through this training, participants are prepared to possess abilities that meet the needs of the overseas labour market while simultaneously increasing the competitiveness of the Indonesian workforce.

Registration for the second batch takes place from 2lam 28 September to 31 October 2026 via the BP3MI registration channel. For this registration period, prospective participants are no longer required to possess a ‘yellow card’ or AK-1.

Mukhtarudin hopes that the programme can provide broader access for the younger generation and the Indonesian public to enhance their skills and capitalise on overseas job opportunities. “We want Indonesia’s youth to have wider opportunities. With good competency, they can be better prepared and more competitive when entering the global labour market,” he concluded.
