REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG – The Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) of the West Java Police (Polda Jawa Barat) is preparing the Tim Urai Motor Senyum (Smile-Unravelling Traffic Team) to tackle congestion on Lebaran mudik routes in 2026 across West Java. They have been equipped with several skills, including how to communicate in a more humane manner when dealing with mudik travellers.

West Java Police Traffic Director Kombes Raydian Kokrosono said that they have provided training to the Tim Urai of Polda Jabar and its jajarana Polres. They have been equipped with expertise and trained in patience during traffic jams.

‘Dua pekan ahead they will face demands of situations that require expertise and patience. We are giving training in public speaking and psychology,’ he said on Sunday (8 March 2026).

He said the untangling team is equipped with how to handle on-site situations when congestion occurs on the Trans-Java Toll, the Pantura Route, and the Southern Route. The force has also conducted simulations of the training.

‘The challenge may be that people have not yet accepted our admonitions; not yet receptive to our delivery. That’s why we train here,’ he said.

He said, officers will provide mudik travellers with understanding in a humane manner and with good communication. And address their own psychological issues.

‘I hope this will be accepted by the public with our presence in the midst of the congestion that will occur in our operation later,’ he added.

He said the Tim Urai Motor Senyum will be on standby at rest areas such as at kilometre 57 with 20 personnel and at kilometre 63 with 63 personnel. Meanwhile other rest areas will have at least 10 personnel, as well as at security posts or along arterial routes.

‘A vehicle breaking down on a pre-planned stretch or running out of fuel may occur suddenly. The Untangling Team will move; the vehicle team will act,’ he said.
