PT Bank SMBC Indonesia Tbk (SMBC Indonesia) is strengthening its global transaction services through the addition of three new foreign currencies, with its debit and credit cards now being used for transactions in 188 countries.

To assist with international transaction needs, Jenius by SMBC Indonesia provides the convenience of performing foreign currency transactions 24/7 without holidays via the Jenius application, ranging from savings and currency exchange to sending and receiving funds.

“The three favourite foreign currencies for Jenius users are the US Dollar, Singapore Dollar, and Japanese Yen,” said Irwan Tisnabutdi, Head of Emerging Affluent at SMBC Indonesia, in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He noted that foreign currency transfers made from Indonesia have reached as far as Brasilia, Brazil, and South Carolina, USA, covering distances of more than 26,000 kilometres.

“Debit and credit cards are already being used in 188 countries for online and offline transactions, as well as cash withdrawals,” he added.

Meanwhile, through the ‘Pay & Save’ feature, Jenius by SMBC Indonesia helps users save while conducting daily transactions, fostering more practical saving habits. A record has been set where a user performed up to 210 transaction and saving activities via the ‘Cash Cow’ feature within a single month.

Jenius by SMBC Indonesia also offers the Yay Points reward programme. The bank noted that the highest number of Yay Points collected by a single user was equivalent to 12 round-trip Business Class tickets from Jakarta to Tokyo when redeemed for KrisFlyer Miles.

This year, Jenius by SMBC Indonesia has introduced further innovations, including ‘Yay Stickers’ from the ‘Play & Yay!’ mission, as well as three new foreign currency options: the Turkish Lira, Swiss Franc, and Saudi Riyal.

These various innovations were developed through a co-creation process with Indonesia’s digitally savvy community, ensuring that Jenius by SMBC Indonesia continues to provide solutions relevant to their needs and lifestyles.

He mentioned that in August 2026, Jenius by SMBC Indonesia will celebrate a decade of journey under the theme ‘Endless Explorat10n’, reflecting a spirit of exploration, adaptation, and innovation in providing life finance solutions for the digital community.

This spirit is realised through a co-creation process by listening to the feedback, ideas, and insights of Indonesia’s digital-savvy population to deliver financial services that are simpler, smarter, safer, and more relevant.

Irwan expressed his appreciation to Jenius users for their support over the past ten years and reaffirmed the commitment to delivering innovation backed by the global network experience of the SMBC Group.

Since its launch in 2016, Jenius by SMBC Indonesia has introduced more than 80 innovations through collaboration with users to meet financial needs, ranging from transactions, savings, and investments to cash flow management and protection.

He added that this decade-long journey serves as evidence that innovation can flourish through co-creation and collaboration, allowing Jenius by SMBC Indonesia to continue providing relevant financial experiences for Indonesia’s digitally savvy society.
