Jakarta (ANTARA) – The ANTARA Institute of Journalism collaborated with Perum BULOG to hold a smartphone photography training session for BULOG’s public relations staff at the ANTARA Heritage Center on 24 June 2026. The activity aimed to enhance visual communication competencies amidst the rapid flow of digital information.

In his opening remarks, LKBN ANTARA’s Director of Commerce Rachmat Hidayat stressed that photographs are no longer just documentation, but a communication language capable of explaining policies, building trust, strengthening institutional reputation, and conveying messages to the public quickly, emotionally, and memorably.

“In the digital era, every photo does not just record an event. Every photo is an opportunity to build trust, convey values, and tell the story of our contribution to Indonesia,” he said.

Rachmat asserted that the public now not only wants to hear what an institution does, but also wants to see it directly. Therefore, the ability to produce good photographs has become a strategic necessity for public relations.

Smartphone photography is considered relevant because mobile devices are now in everyone’s hands. With the right skills, important moments can be recorded and disseminated quickly and with quality.

As an institution that plays a role in safeguarding national food security, BULOG has many stories of dedication, hard work, and real contributions to society. However, these stories will not have maximum impact without good communication. This is where the role of public relations becomes crucial: presenting the meaning behind every organisational activity.

The training not only equipped participants with basic photography techniques such as composition, lighting, and camera angles. More than that, participants were encouraged to develop visual storytelling skills—transforming images into powerful and meaningful narratives.

ANTARA, as the national news agency, shared its experience that the best photographs are not merely aesthetically pleasing, but are those that can tell a story, stir emotions, and leave a deep impression.

BULOG’s Head of Public Relations, Tomi Wijaya, stated that this training was an important momentum in responding to the information age.

“We last conducted training in 2024. They are BULOG’s frontliners in the regions. We appreciate ANTARA, which has provided the most coverage about BULOG,” he said.

This statement underscores BULOG’s commitment to continuously improving the quality of its public communication, while strengthening synergy with ANTARA as a strategic partner.

Through this training, it is hoped that visual works will emerge that are not only aesthetically appealing but also reinforce BULOG’s positive image as an institution that is present, working, and providing real benefits to the people of Indonesia.
