Digital transformation is increasingly becoming a primary necessity for energy companies to improve efficiency, strengthen governance, and expand business amidst ever more complex operational demands. This step is now being taken by PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) through the adoption of SAP Cloud ERP as a new foundation for the state-owned geothermal company’s operations. Geo Dipa Energi has officially modernised its core corporate systems through the RISE with SAP programme. This transformation enables the company to integrate data and business processes within a single cloud-based digital platform to enhance asset reliability, accelerate decision-making, and support renewable energy development. As one of the strategic players in the national geothermal industry, Geo Dipa operates geothermal assets in Dieng, Central Java, and Patuha, West Java, with an installed capacity of approximately 120 megawatts (MW). The company also holds a geothermal resource potential of more than 800 MW, serving as crucial capital to support the national energy transition targets. PT Geo Dipa Energi President Director Yudistian Yunis stated that the need for a modern system is increasingly critical as the company’s business grows and operational complexity increases across the entire geothermal value chain. “As a state-owned enterprise entrusted with advancing Indonesia’s geothermal energy future, we need a system with a far-reaching vision, just like our mission. For us, this transformation is more than just technology. It is about how we can run operations more intelligently to deliver geothermal energy more efficiently and reliably for Indonesia,” Yudistian said on Thursday. According to him, SAP Cloud ERP through RISE with SAP provides a data-driven foundation that allows the company to make faster and more accurate decisions while maintaining operational cost efficiency amidst the company’s growth agenda. Through the new platform, Geo Dipa now runs operations on an integrated system that connects all business processes and corporate data. This integration enables real-time visibility into various operational activities, improves asset reliability, simplifies the supply chain, and strengthens business process standardisation. The cloud-based system also supports improved corporate governance, accelerates reporting processes, and delivers a more flexible operational model to support future business expansion. With the adoption of SAP Cloud ERP, he explained, Geo Dipa now has better consistency, transparency, and operational control across the entire organisation. This transformation also opens up opportunities for broader utilisation of analytics, automation, and AI technologies to support business growth and accelerate the development of future geothermal projects. “This step demonstrates how the use of cloud technology is becoming an increasingly important factor in strengthening the competitiveness of national energy companies, as well as supporting Indonesia’s digital transformation and renewable energy development agenda,” Yudistian concluded. According to SAP Indonesia Managing Director Sianto Wongjoyo, digital transformation through SAP Cloud ERP is a crucial step for energy companies facing increasingly dynamic operational challenges. “As organisations face an increasingly complex operational environment, particularly in the energy sector, a modern digital foundation becomes an essential element to enhance business agility and resilience,” he said. He added that the integration of data, artificial intelligence (AI), and automation within the SAP Cloud ERP ecosystem will help companies improve the quality of decision-making and move towards the concept of an autonomous enterprise, one that operates more adaptively and intelligently. The implementation of this transformation was completed in just four months through a collaboration with PT Soltius Indonesia as an SAP Platinum Partner. Soltius supported the end-to-end integration of Geo Dipa’s core systems and business processes into a single unified cloud platform. PT Soltius Indonesia President Director Bernardy Suhendra assessed that this transformation is a strategic investment that will provide long-term benefits for the company. “Geo Dipa is not just enhancing its technology landscape capabilities. The company is building a digital foundation that supports its business for the future. Our role is to ensure this transformation delivers real value to the way the company runs its daily operations,” said Bernardy.
