SMAN 77 Jakarta Holds MPLS with Anti-Bullying and Drug Awareness Materials
Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri (SMAN) 77 Jakarta in Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, provided various materials to new students for the 2026/2027 academic year on the second day of MPLS, Tuesday, 14 July 2026. Vice Principal for Student Affairs Mugi Mulyani stated that the materials included anti-bullying and the dangers of drugs. “The theme of MPLS is creating a safe, comfortable, and clean school environment,” she said at the school.
The school has accepted 213 new students. Preparations began with a pre-MPLS event on Saturday, 11 July 2026, aimed at introducing students to the school atmosphere and teachers. Students were only required to bring identification, a cap, and a tumbler. The MPLS runs from Monday, 13 July, to Friday, 17 July 2026, with the theme of creating a safe, comfortable, and clean school environment.
Over the two days of MPLS, the school has provided various materials to students. Anti-bullying material was delivered by the DKI Jakarta Child Empowerment, Protection, and Population Control Agency on Monday. On Tuesday, the school invited members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to provide marching drills and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) to deliver education on the dangers of drugs. The school also provided briefings from the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) and invited the police to raise legal awareness among students. “There is also a briefing on disaster preparedness,” Mugi added.
During MPLS, student activities conclude in the afternoon. Before going home, they are invited to perform congregational prayers at the mosque to instil religious character. “For non-Muslim students, the school also provides a multipurpose room for communal prayer,” she said. In addition to material briefings, new students are invited to participate in group exercises and to familiarise themselves with facilities around the school environment, such as the sub-district office, as well as watching extracurricular activity performances.
Mugi expressed hope that all new students can pursue their education at SMAN 77 with a sense of security and without pressure. She also hopes the conducive school environment will help students focus on achieving their aspirations, “without any physical or psychological fear.”
Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti previously reminded all schools to no longer hold initiation or seniority practices during the MPLS for the 2026/2027 academic year. The message was delivered to coincide with the first day of the national ‘Ramah MPLS’ programme, which runs from 13 to 17 July 2026. According to him, MPLS should be an enjoyable start for students to get to know the school environment, not an occasion for intimidating new students.
