SMAN 2 Bantul Remains Silent on Allegations of Teacher Involvement in Student Bullying Case

An alumnus of SMAN 2 Bantul has gone viral after claiming their mental health was damaged as a result of bullying they experienced while at the school. The school remained silent when asked for confirmation regarding a statement from the victim’s advocate, who claimed the victim was bullied after revealing a case of exam paper leaks at the request of a teacher.

“We apologise, but the handling process has already reached the DP3AP2KB (Office of Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning) in Bantul,” said Suwondo, Vice Principal for Student Affairs at SMAN 2 Bantul, when contacted by detikJogja on Tuesday (23/6/2026).

Suwondo added that SMAN 2 Bantul is currently awaiting the results of the DP3AP2KB’s handling. The school was also reluctant to provide further information regarding the victim who helped uncover the exam paper leak case. “So we are waiting for the follow-up according to the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure),” he said briefly.

It was previously reported that Dini Sandra, an advocate for one of the SMAN 2 Bantul alumni who became a victim of bullying resulting in mental health issues, said that initially the victim was merely fulfilling a teacher’s request to uncover a case of exam paper leaks. However, after successfully uncovering it, the teacher instead named the victim as the perpetrator.

Dini said she had communicated with the victim’s friends from both junior high and senior high school to find out when the victim’s ordeal began. “I happened to communicate with their friends from junior high and senior high. It turns out there was a difference in their condition; they were fine during junior high and also fine during senior high, specifically in Year 10,” Dini told detikJogja on Monday (22/6).

Dini continued that the change in the victim began to appear when they were in Year 11. At that time, a teacher asked for the victim’s help regarding a leak of exam questions. “Then in Year 11, during a computer-based exam, there was a leak of exam questions at SMAN 2 Bantul. This student, who happened to be the Chair of the IT Club, was asked for help by one of the teachers,” she said.

“The teacher asked if they could find out who first leaked the questions, because the leak came from SMAN 1,” Dini continued. At the time, the victim agreed to the request and was even able to find out who leaked the questions. “Well, they found them, they managed to find the person,” she said.

The person who leaked the questions was a female student in Year 11. Subsequently, the school asked that student to withdraw. “Because a formal expulsion (DO) would affect the school’s reputation. So the school did not want to expel or issue a DO. The student was forced to leave and eventually transferred,” she said.

After successfully uncovering who leaked the exam questions, Dini said the victim did not receive thanks from the teacher. Instead, the victim was met with slander. “In the end, instead of receiving thanks from the teacher, this student was instead slandered. The teacher spread word to other teachers and parents that this student was the one who leaked the questions. Even though this student was the one who helped find the main suspect,” she said.

This matter even spread to the parents’ association group (POT), where the teacher asked other parents to stay away from the victim. “Perhaps that is where the student’s mental state was affected, we don’t know, because they were still a teenager. So they felt, from having many friends because they were good at IT and often asked for help, suddenly people were distancing themselves, wondering why,” she said.
