SMAN 2 Bantul Issues Full Statement After Alumni Allege Bullying and Mental Health Issues
SMA Negeri 2 Bantul has issued an official response after an alumnus claimed on social media that they were a victim of bullying, leading to mental health disorders after graduation. The school uploaded a statement titled ‘Pernyataan Resmi SMA Negeri 2 Bantul Terkait Pemberitaan di Media Sosial’ to its official Instagram account, @smanegeri2bantul. The statement, signed by headmistress Isti Fatimah, was prompted by the dynamic information circulating on social media regarding the alleged bullying and psychological violence posted on Threads on Tuesday, 16 June 2026. The school’s five-point statement includes a deep apology to the survivor, family, and the wider community for the discomfort caused. It commits to being open and cooperative should any investigation or evaluation take place. The school states it is prepared to take responsibility and accept sanctions if any violations, abuse of authority, or negligence by teachers or school officials are proven. The incident will be used as a momentum for evaluation to ensure a better learning environment for all students in the future. The school also opens wide communication channels for the public, parents, and related parties to provide criticism or further information through official channels. The alumnus’s Threads post claimed they were diagnosed with mental illness after graduating, alleging they were falsely accused of a crime by their homeroom and guidance counsellor teachers and made a scapegoat, leading to social ostracism.
