SMAN 1 Pontianak Refuses to Participate in LCC Re-run, Deputy Speaker of MPR: They Have Accepted the Decision
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – SMAN 1 Pontianak has decided not to participate in the re-run of the 4 Pillars MPR RI Smart Competition at the West Kalimantan (Kalbar) provincial level. The school stated that it has accepted the jury’s decision, even though it was detrimental to them.
Deputy Speaker of the MPR, Eddy Soeparno, said he had met with the head and deputy head of SMAN 1 Pontianak at the Senayan Parliament Complex on Thursday (14/5/2026). According to him, SMAN 1 Pontianak requested that the 4 Pillars MPR Smart Competition not be re-run.
“They requested that it not be re-run. They, SMAN 1 Pontianak, have accepted the decision to be in second place,” said Eddy when confirmed by Republika in Jakarta, Friday (15/5/2026).
According to him, SMAN 1 Pontianak will also provide support for SMAN 1 Sambas to advance to the final stage. This means that SMAN 1 Pontianak does not intend to annul the existing decision. “In fact, they will support SMAN 1 Sambas to advance to the next stage,” said Eddy.
The attitude of SMAN 1 Pontianak was then disseminated to the public through their social media accounts. In addition, SMAN 1 Pontianak has also sent a letter to the Chairman of the MPR regarding this stance.
Regarding the follow-up to this stance, Eddy stated that they will hold a meeting to determine it. It is likely that the MPR will respect the decision of SMAN 1 Pontianak not to hold a re-run of the competition.
“So later, the MPR leadership will meet and hold a meeting to decide on the results of the letter sent by SMAN 1, based on their request that the competition stage at that time not be re-run,” said the Deputy General Chairman of PAN.
The students of SMAN 1 Pontianak were disadvantaged by the jury’s decision in the 4 Pillars competition at the West Kalimantan provincial level. This then became a matter of public concern, so that the MPR apologized for the jury’s erroneous decision.
