SMAN 02 Karangbahagia Bekasi Construction Underway to Expand Educational Access
Bekasi Regency (ANTARA) - The construction of the new school unit (USB) for SMAN 02 Karangbahagia, Bekasi Regency, West Java, has entered the implementation stage this year as an effort to expand educational access, particularly for the local community.
“The construction has now entered the implementation phase. God willing, a mutual check will be conducted this Thursday,” said Parhan Firmansyah, Head of the Service Section/Sub-coordinator of Facilities and Infrastructure at the West Java Education Regional Office (KCD) Region 3, in Bekasi Regency, on Wednesday.
He stated that the presence of this new state school is a strategic step by the West Java Provincial Government to expand educational access and respond to the community’s need for upper secondary education facilities.
The construction phase of the new school follows the completion of all processes regarding land availability. Local residents had been campaigning for the construction proposal for the past three years.
“The community is very enthusiastic and pleased because their proposal, after three years, has finally been realised. The construction of the SMAN 02 Karangbahagia new school unit begins this year,” he said.
Parhan also expressed appreciation for the support from the community and the Bekasi Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), particularly Commission IV, which helped push for the school’s construction. He also thanked the Bekasi Regency Government for facilitating the provision of the land.
He admitted that the land provision process was not simple. The land, which previously served as social and public facilities owned by a developer, had to undergo several stages to become a government asset before being donated for the school’s construction.
“From the developer’s land, we monitored the process until the handover to the Bekasi Regency Government. Once it became the property of Bekasi Regency, it was then donated to the West Java Provincial Government,” he explained.
With the land status now officially belonging to the government, it ensures that the construction of the SMAN 02 Karangbahagia new school unit can proceed without administrative land issues or legal disputes in the future.
The West Java Provincial Government plans to build one new study group room (rombel) this year to complement the two existing rooms, in order to increase the capacity for new students in the next academic year.
During the construction process, students of SMAN 02 Karangbahagia will temporarily be placed at SMA Negeri 1 Cikarang Utara, considering the proximity of the location, availability of teaching staff, classrooms, and adequate learning facilities.
“The location is closer, and there are many teachers there. The availability of classrooms is sufficient and the facilities are very capable. We want the students currently placed at SMA 1 Cikarang Utara to be able to study with focus, even though the school is still under construction,” he said.
In addition to physical construction, the authorities are also preparing the school’s management apparatus. A school principal has been prepared through the appointment of an Acting Principal (Plt), while staff requirements are also being prepared gradually.
“We hope that the community’s need for educational access will be increasingly met. The presence of this new school is also expected to provide a closer educational option for the community, while reducing the difficulties faced by students in accessing upper secondary education,” he said.
