Small-scale industries

Indonesia can indeed be proud of the fast economic growth in
the past decade. Our economy seems to have been able to follow
the rhythm of globalization.

But, even though greatly pleased by the convincing economic
growth, the government should not forget the role of the small-
scale industries because they also contribute to the progress of
the national economy. These small- and medium-scale businesses
have been complaining about the government's lack of attention to
their fate. Many of them are likely to face bankruptcy like the
small-scale textile businesses.

It would be fair if the government provided facilities for the
small-scale businessmen like it does to large-scale
entrepreneurs, in order to enable them to stand on their own
feet.
