Small-minded people
Small-minded people
From Sinar Pagi
God has passed His punishment on this nation by making state officials and members of the political elite unable to work well and honestly. They will do anything for their own personal gain, so that the condition of the nation has gotten worse in many respects.
To quote Sayid Qutub, "Man who lives just for his own will lives and also dies as a small-minded person. But man who lives for other people will live as an outstanding person and he will die as a great one, too."
The wheel of the past rolls on into the present, the era of reform and democracy. This struggle for reform will not succeed if it is not carried out with the participation of all the people. Can the fact that the nation's life has been so disheartening be contemplated honestly and with some introspection? If this plight worsens, all of the officials who manipulate their authority for their own interests will surely be courting curses.
Ponder God's promises in the Koran: "If they don't leave behind their bad character and remain consistent on God's path, they will surely be unable to free themselves from misfortune."
