The Ramadan to Eid season has long been a period of hope for small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) operators across various regions, including mining areas. The surge in demand during this period presents a golden opportunity for local wisdom products to increase income while proving their quality in wider markets.

For Mind Id Group, this phenomenon is not merely an annual cycle but a manifestation of the success of ongoing mentoring programmes. Through synergy between the mining industry and community empowerment, local products are now beginning to scale up from household-level production towards corporate and export markets.

One concrete example is Hera, 53, owner of the Mirrando brand from Bangka Belitung. This producer of key lime syrup and jelly candy started her business from her home kitchen. Capital and marketing challenges that once constrained her gradually eased after she became a mentee partner of PT Timah Tbk.

“Previously, everything felt like I had to do it myself. Now, when orders surge approaching Eid, we are far better prepared,” said Hera on Monday, 9 March 2026. Her business has since developed rapidly and is now able to employ dozens of local workers.

Similar optimism emanates from Rosi Fitriani, owner of FnR Craft, which is a mentee partner of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA). Rosi has successfully transformed South Sumatran textiles such as songket and jumputan into high-value ethnic bags with artistic appeal.

Thanks to PTBA’s mentoring in design curation and quality standards, FnR Craft products have now penetrated international markets, ranging from Malaysia, Thailand, to Singapore.

Mind Id Deputy Chief Executive Officer Dany Amrul Ichdan emphasised that SME mentoring is a crucial part of creating inclusive economic growth in mining operational areas.

“We want to ensure our mentee partners not only run their businesses but build sustainable business foundations. When local wisdom is strengthened with production capacity, quality, and market access, then regional products can become part of the global value chain,” Dany stated firmly.

This approach aligns with the company’s mandate in implementing downstream linkages in the mining sector. The added value generated does not stop at raw minerals but also extends to the creative economy sector of the community.

As a concrete step to expand networking, 31 mentee SMEs of the company participated in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources SME Bazaar held from 9 to 11 March 2026. This event showcased diverse flagship products, ranging from regional cuisine, handicrafts, textiles, to herbal products and souvenirs.

For business operators like Hera and Rosi, the exhibition is a momentum to conduct market testing whilst introducing the wealth of Indonesian culture to a wider audience in Jakarta.

The vibrancy of SMEs in mining regions during the 2026 Eid season demonstrates that synergy between state-owned enterprises and the community can create tangible multiplier effects. The added value generated now arrives directly in family kitchens, bringing the fragrance of local wisdom to the global stage.
