SLHS Becomes Absolute Requirement, 9 MBG Kitchens in Yogyakarta Without Certificates Reported
The issue of the Sanitation Hygiene Feasibility Certificate (SLHS) continues to overshadow the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme, including in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). Of the 424 kitchens or Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) that are already operating, 415 are known to have obtained the SLHS.
This means there are still 9 MBG kitchens operating without an SLHS, even though the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) previously set a deadline for all SPPGs to resolve the SLHS issue by 10 August 2026.
“As of today, 424 are operating but 415 have the SLHS. So there are indeed registered SPPGs that do not yet have the SLHS, but only a few SPPGs that are already operating without the SLHS. This is what the BGN has reinforced. So, all must have the SLHS to be able to operate or be operational,” said the Head of the DIY Health Office, Dr Gregorius Anung Trihadi, in an interview with journalists following an online coordination meeting on the BGN programme at the Kepatihan Complex in Yogyakarta on Thursday (13/8/2026).
Anung said that the existence of the SLHS was one of the main points re-emphasised in the MBG coordination meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the BGN, which took place online on Thursday (13/8/2026). The meeting lasted approximately three hours and was attended by regional heads from across Indonesia.
During the meeting, the BGN stressed that the SLHS is an absolute requirement for SPPGs to operate. Consequently, MBG kitchens that have not met this requirement should not be able to carry out operations.
“Based on the directive from the Head of the BGN, yes, it is an absolute requirement, 0 or 1. That is how it was put. Either you have it or you do not,” said Anung.
“Our team will coordinate to ensure that the SPPGs have the SLHS, because the SLHS is issued by the district/city government. We have already reported those that do not yet have the SLHS,” he said.
