Sleman's Monalisa SME Develops Goat Milk Mocaf Pie
The Monalisa micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) group, located in Gayamharjo Village, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, is currently undergoing a major transformation in its business operations. This transformation encompasses the development of production processes, administrative management, product innovation, and more modern marketing strategies.
One of the flagship innovations produced is the mocaf goat milk pie. This product utilises mocaf flour, derived from cassava, combined with local goat milk. This innovation not only adds value to local commodities but also opens up wider market opportunities for its producers.
The success of MSME Monalila is the result of a mentoring programme initiated by PT Asuransi BRI Life in collaboration with the BRI Research Institute (BRIRINS Institute) as the implementing partner. The programme, which ran for three months (from March to May 2026), focused on increasing the capacity of cassava-based MSMEs to produce competitive processed products.
Ade Nasution, Head of the Corporate Secretary Division at BRI Life, explained that community empowerment through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme is a company priority. According to him, the indicator of CSR success is not merely physical assistance, but the independence of the community following the programme.
“We are introducing a programme that not only provides production facilities but also strengthens business capacity through structured mentoring alongside the BRIRINS Institute. We hope this programme can produce MSMEs that are more independent, adaptive, and competitive, thereby improving community welfare sustainably,” Ade stated in a written release on Wednesday.
To support modernisation, BRI Life provided production assistance in the form of multi-tier ovens, stainless steel worktables, and digital devices for business record-keeping. In addition to technical production aspects, personal protection was also a key focus.
A total of 30 members of MSME Monalisa received Micro Insurance for Accidents, Health, and Death (AMKKM) from BRI Life. The provision of insurance was accompanied by financial literacy education to strengthen the financial resilience of the business group members.
To ensure the quality of raw materials is maintained from the source, the programme also involved agricultural experts from Gadjah Mada University (UGM). These experts provided technical assistance regarding pest and disease control for cassava plants to the supplying farmers.
Mantik Bimo Nugroho, the Coordinator of Production and Marketing for MSME Monalisa, acknowledged the positive impact of this collaboration. He stated that the mentoring has improved the group’s ability to manage the business professionally, adopt digital technology, and expand the marketing reach of their processed mocaf products.
