Shinta Komala, a woman from Sleman, has taken to social media to claim she is a victim of criminalisation after being reported for embezzlement by the family of a police officer. She has officially been named a suspect by investigators.

Alam Dikorama, Shinta’s legal counsel, stated that the dispute began after his client opened a coffee shop with a friend in 2024. During this period, Shinta entered a romantic relationship with a police officer identified by the initials K. As the business relationship evolved, K invested capital into the shop, leading to the business being managed by both Shinta and K. However, following the eventual bankruptcy of the business and the end of their relationship, the two agreed to return various gifts exchanged during the relationship, including an iPhone 14 that Shinta had originally purchased for K’s sibling.

Alam claims that Shinta never requested the return of the iPhone box, and the phone was returned without it. Despite the return of all items, the legal issues escalated. Shinta alleges she was approached by K’s father, a retired police officer, and an active police officer from a local station in Sleman. During this encounter, she claims she was intimidated and forced to sign a debt acknowledgement for approximately Rp 80 million, with her educational certificate being forcibly taken as collateral.

Following this, Shinta reported the officers for intimidation and the unlawful seizure of her certificate. The matter was processed by the DIY Regional Police (Polda DIY) Ethics Division, where the officer was found to have violated the code of ethics. Simultaneously, Shinta was reported by K’s sister, Tania, for the alleged embezzlement of the iPhone 14, using the absence of the original box as the basis for the report. Shinta was officially named a suspect on 12 May.

In response, Iptu Argo Anggoro, Head of Public Relations for the Sleman Police, clarified that there are two separate legal matters. The first is the embezzlement case (Report No. LP/B/600/X/2024), which is currently in the investigation stage. He stated that investigators have secured three pieces of evidence, including witness statements and expert opinions, to justify the suspect designation. He added that while investigators offered mediation through restorative justice, the complainant, Tania, rejected the offer. The second matter involves Shinta’s complaint regarding professional ethics violations, which has been transferred to the Sleman Police Internal Affairs Division (Sipropam Polresta Sleman).
