Sleman Regent to Suspend Condongcatur Village Head Following Corruption Suspect Designation
The Regent of Sleman, Harda Kiswaya, has addressed the designation of the Condongcatur Village Head, Reno Candra Sangaji, as a suspect by the DIY Regional Police. Harda intends to suspend Reno following his involvement in the alleged misappropriation of Village Treasury Land (TKD).
Currently, Reno remains in his active role as Village Head. However, he will be suspended in the near future, and an interim official will be appointed to fill the position. “The official letter arrived only yesterday; God willing, we will sign it soon in accordance with applicable regulations. Naturally, there must be an interim official,” Harda stated when met by journalists at the Sleman Regent’s Office on Tuesday (2/6/2026).
Harda expressed his concern regarding the case, noting that such incidents should have been avoidable, especially since several village heads in Sleman have previously been implicated in TKD corruption cases. Harda emphasised that he will continue to remind village heads regarding the regulations governing the use of village land. “The mastery of legislation must be truly understood by village heads so that they do not misimplement or misinterpret it during execution,” he said.
He expressed hope that whoever succeeds as the Village Head of Condongcatur will not repeat such actions. “Hopefully, the best will happen for Condongcatur regarding its government governance. My point is, what has happened has happened. The next generation must truly learn so that this does not recur,” he added.
Previously, the Special Crimes Directorate of the DIY Regional Police uncovered an alleged corruption case involving the misuse of Village Treasury Land in the Condongcatur Village. Investigators have named one suspect: the Condongcatur Village Head, Reno Candra Sangaji.
Kombes Ihsan, Head of Public Relations for the DIY Regional Police, confirmed that the Village Head has been named a suspect following a case review by investigators. “The investigators have named one suspect in this case, and the suspect is from the Condongcatur Village Head’s office,” Ihsan told journalists at the DIY Regional Police Headquarters on Tuesday (2/6/2026).
He further noted that the suspect was designated in May, though no detention has been carried out yet as the legal process is still ongoing. “The designation happened just last week in May. The suspect is the active Village Head of Condongcatur. At this stage, we have not detained the individual as the process is still in its early stages,” he concluded.
