Sleman Regent Guarantees No PPPK Layoffs Despite Regional Transfer Cuts

Sleman Regent Harda Kiswaya has guaranteed that there will be no termination of employment or dismissal of Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) within the Sleman Regency Government. This assurance comes despite a reduction in the region’s Transfer to Regions (TKD) funds amounting to hundreds of billions of rupiah. “I guarantee there will be no dismissal of PPPK in Sleman,” Harda said in Sleman on Tuesday (4/8/2026). Harda stated that Sleman Regency’s TKD allocation this year has been reduced by approximately Rp 270 billion. Despite the cut, the region’s financial condition remains relatively secure because it is supported by substantial Regional Original Revenue (PAD). “Alhamdulillah, Sleman has PAD. Our PAD is almost 50-50 with the TKD. So we can overcome the impact of the cuts,” he said. There are more than 3,000 PPPK serving within the Sleman Regency Government. Harda ensured that the government continues to strive to improve the welfare of PPPK to approach minimum wage provisions, even though the region’s fiscal capacity is still limited and the budget must be divided among various development programmes. While guaranteeing no general policy of dismissing PPPK, Harda said that termination could still occur on a case-by-case basis if an employee is proven to have violated regulations or failed to perform their duties professionally. “If there is a violation of the rules, of course there are consequences according to the provisions, which could include termination of employment,” he said. “But that is on a case-by-case basis due to personal violations. In general, there is no policy to dismiss PPPK,” he added. He also urged all PPPK within the Sleman Regency to maintain their commitment and improve their performance in carrying out their duties.
