Sleman Regent Does Not Follow ASN WFH Order Every Friday: It Can't Be Optimal
Sleman Regent Harda Kiswaya will not implement the work from home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN) every Friday. This decision was taken by the Sleman Regency government despite the central government having issued a circular on the matter.
“I respect that order; regarding WFH, if in the regency area, in Sleman it can’t be optimal. So we serve the public as usual,” said Harda at the Sleman Regency Secretariat office, as reported by detikJogja, Wednesday (1/4/2026).
Harda explained several considerations for not implementing the WFH policy in Sleman Regency. One of the considerations, he said, relates to the effectiveness of services.
“We might be wrong, perhaps, but regarding that (WFH), it’s situational. In Sleman, services can’t be optimal, so we prioritise services to the public,” he stated.
Harda feels that if WFH is implemented, public services will not run optimally. In addition, he mentioned that all Regional Device Organisations (OPD) in Sleman are directly involved in public services, so this WFH policy is almost impossible to apply.
“There are many things that mean our considerations for us to serve as usual. I have dialogued with colleagues, almost none are doing WFH. Because all services are directly to the public,” he explained.
