The Sleman District Prosecutor’s Office has named a member of the Sleman Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), Raudi Akmal, as a suspect in the development of a case concerning alleged corruption in the management of Sleman Regency’s 2020 tourism grants. The determination of suspect status was made on Monday evening. RA was seen leaving the prosecutor’s office at 19:41 WIB wearing an orange detainee vest and was escorted by officers to a detention vehicle to be taken to a remand centre. Head of the Sleman District Prosecutor’s Office, Bambang Yunianto, stated that the determination was made after investigators discovered RA’s active involvement in the management of the 2020 tourism grants. He explained that RA, who served as a council member for the 2019-2024 and 2024-2029 periods, allegedly conditioned proposals from community groups applying to be grant recipients. These proposals were subsequently formalised through a decree by the Sleman Regent.
