Sleman prohibits undersized houses

SLEMAN, Yogyakarta: The Sleman regency administration has
banned developers from building on less than 120 square meters of
land, Sleman Regent Ibnu Subiyanto said on Monday.

"We will not give permits to build houses on plots of land
that do not measure up to regulations. Every developer that wants
to build residential houses in Sleman must meet regulations,"
Ibnu said.

He said building houses on small plots of land was a waste of
space, and encouraged developers to consider building low-cost
apartments instead.

The regency administration is currently developing two
buildings of low-cost apartments.

"If developers want to develop low-cost apartments in Sleman,
we will help them procure speedy services, including securing the
necessary permits," Ibnu said. -- Antara
