The Ash-Asholihah Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes) in Jonggrangan, Mlati, Sleman, has spoken out regarding allegations of rape committed by one of its administrators against a former student.

Ahmad Khoirul Anwar, the son of the school’s caretaker, Muh. Marom, clarified several points regarding the reported criminal case. Ahmad confirmed that the individual reported to the Sleman Police is NH, also known as GN, who is a son-in-law of the school’s family.

The victim is a former student, identified by the initials FN. From the school’s perspective, the victim is positioned as a third party, as the perpetrator, GN, is married to the individual involved in the incident. Ahmad stated that NH is not a religious leader but a teaching staff member. While the incidents occurred within the school grounds, he clarified they took place in a residence occupied by GN and his wife, which is not part of the school’s official assets.

Ahmad noted that the first incident occurred in December 2025 during the school holidays. FN had been visiting the school to assist GN at the request of his wife. The second incident occurred on 29 January 2026, while GN’s wife was undergoing childbirth at a hospital. Ahmad alleged that NH acted inappropriately behind his wife’s back.

In July 2026, after FN admitted to the illicit relationship with GN, the school investigated and subsequently dismissed GN from his position for adultery. The school management claimed they had initially attempted to resolve the matter through mediation and facilitated a ‘nikah siri’ (unregistered marriage) between GN and FN, attended by both families. However, the case was later reported to the police by FN’s legal team.

The school’s legal representative, Heri Kurniawan, stated that they support the ongoing legal process and deny that the school attempted to hide the victim. He emphasised that the school itself is a victim of the narrative, as the perpetrator’s actions have disrupted the harmony of the school’s community and the perpetrator’s own family.

Conversely, the victim’s lawyer, Gusti Rian Saputra, alleges that the student was raped on two occasions and is currently pregnant, with an expected due date in October. He claims that during the first incident, GN locked the door and coerced the victim, subsequently threatening her to remain silent to prevent his family from being destroyed. The legal team has provided ultrasound evidence to the Sleman Police and is demanding professional investigation and protection for the victim.

Sleman Police Public Relations Officer, Iptu Argo Anggoro, confirmed that a report has been filed and that the police are currently conducting an investigation.
