Sleman Deputy Regent: Stunting Prevention Rooted in Data Accuracy

Sleman (ANTARA) - The Deputy Regent of Sleman, Danang Maharsa, stated that handling stunting should not merely focus on nutritional fulfillment, but must begin with the accuracy of targeted intervention data.

“Stunting is not just a number. It concerns the future of our children; therefore, data verification and validation are key to ensuring interventions are precisely targeted and at-risk families can be immediately assisted,” said Danang.

This was conveyed during the 33rd National Family Day (Harganas) 2026 commemoration for Sleman Regency at the Tamanmartani Cultural Hall, Kalasan, on Thursday. The event was also attended by the Minister of Population and Family Development (Mendukbangga)/Head of BKKBN, Wihaji.

Sleman Deputy Regent Danang Maharsa noted that the presence of Minister Wihaji was an honour and a strategic momentum to strengthen synergy between central and regional governments in achieving high-quality family development.

Danang also expressed that the Sleman Regency Government is ready to fully support national population policies.

According to him, as a form of operational readiness in the field, Sleman Regency has optimised the performance of Field Line Personnel across 16 sub-districts (kapanewon).

Currently, the strength of the family assistance structure in Sleman includes 2,088 members of the Family Assistance Team (TPK), as well as 212 Toddler Family Development (BKB) groups with 8,345 members.

Additionally, there are 134 Adolescent Family Development (BKR) assistance groups with 3,977 members, 175 Elderly Family Development (BKL) groups with 4,556 members, supplemented by 16 Elderly Schools, and 131 Adolescent Counselling Information Centre (PIK R) groups with 2,620 members.

On that occasion, Minister Wihaji met with hundreds of TPK cadres from Sleman Regency and families at risk of stunting who were also present at the event.

Minister Wihaji emphasised the crucial role of TPK cadres in reducing stunting rates and safeguarding family resilience.

According to him, the central government is committed to conducting direct supervision at the grassroots level in accordance with instructions from the President of the Republic of Indonesia. Ministry officials have been instructed to focus on working to verify facts on the ground.
