The Tamanmartani Merah Putih Village Cooperative (KDKMP) in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, is developing various business units ranging from agriculture to health services in an effort to strengthen the economy while meeting the basic needs of the village community. Cooperative Chairman Mawardi stated that the cooperative, established in 2025, now has 1,118 members and manages several business units, including agricultural production facilities, a grocery store, fisheries, and a health clinic. “We want the cooperative to be present as a solution for the community. Not only in the economic aspect, but also for the basic services needed by villagers,” Mawardi said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday. He explained that one of the cooperative’s flagship business units is the distribution of subsidised fertiliser. KDKMP Tamanmartani is trusted to be a distributor of subsidised fertiliser with a volume of approximately 400 tonnes per year according to the Definitive Plan for Group Needs (RDKK). Mawardi said that in the last six months, the cooperative has distributed more than 200 tonnes of fertiliser to farmer groups in the Tamanmartani area. In addition to subsidised fertiliser, the cooperative also provides seeds, pesticides, and various other agricultural production needs. Going forward, the cooperative is targeting the development of an integrated agricultural ecosystem, starting from the provision of production facilities, cultivation assistance, to the absorption of farmers’ harvests. “Farmers now find it easier to obtain fertiliser and other agricultural needs in a timely and targeted manner. We want the cooperative to be part of the solution to increase farmers’ productivity and welfare,” he said. Outside the agricultural sector, KDKMP Tamanmartani is also developing a health clinic that has obtained an operational permit from the Health Office. The clinic provides general polyclinic, dental polyclinic, maternal and child health (KIA) polyclinic, and pharmacy services with the support of 10 health workers and support staff. According to Mawardi, the existence of the cooperative clinic helps expand access to health services for the community, who previously had to travel more than six kilometres to the community health centre (puskesmas). He conveyed that the cooperative is currently finalising a cooperation process with the Health Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) so that it can serve participants of the National Health Insurance (JKN). The development of these various business units is supported by revolving fund financing from the Cooperative Revolving Fund Management Institution (LPDB), which is used to strengthen working capital as well as business development. LPDB Koperasi President Director Krisdianto assessed that KDKMP Tamanmartani demonstrates that village cooperatives can develop into centres of economic activity as well as service providers for the community if managed professionally and supported by adequate financing. “KDKMP Tamanmartani shows that cooperatives not only function as business institutions, but are also capable of answering various community needs. From the agricultural sector that helps farmers obtain production facilities to health services that bring access closer to residents. This is the face of a modern cooperative that is productive, inclusive, and provides a real impact for the community,” he said.
