Sleman Chosen as Pilot for Digital Social Protection to Ensure Targeted Aid Distribution

Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid stated that Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, was chosen as a pilot location for the Digital Social Protection (Perlinsos Digital) programme to ensure the distribution of social assistance is accurately targeted and free from corruption, collusion, and nepotism. “This programme is a direct initiative of President Prabowo Subianto to ensure that all those entitled to receive assistance get their rights, and those who are not entitled no longer receive it. Through digitalisation, the assessment of social assistance recipients is conducted by the system, not by figures such as village heads, making it more accountable and transparent,” Meutya Hafid said during a visit to observe the pilot of the Perlinsos portal in Donoharjo Village, Sleman, on Thursday.

Meutya explained that the Perlinsos Digital programme is built on two main principles: data accuracy and efficiency of time and cost for both the public and the government. The integration of population data allows residents to register independently from home without needing to provide physical documents, which often incur transportation and photocopying costs. “Our target is for the process to be completed in a matter of minutes. According to residents’ accounts, registration can be finished in just five minutes. The role of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs is to ensure this data exchange highway does not get congested and that the system’s security is maintained,” she said.

Meutya also cautioned the public to be wary of fraud schemes exploiting the Perlinsos Digital name. She stressed that the entire registration process is free of charge and can only be accessed through official government channels with a .go.id domain. She added that all feedback from the Sleman trial will be evaluated jointly with the Ministry of Social Affairs to refine the system before it is rolled out nationally across Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Sleman Regent Harda Kiswaya welcomed the designation of his region as the pilot location for Perlinsos Digital. He reported that as of the first week of August 2026, a total of 76,315 family heads had registered in the Perlinsos portal in Sleman. To support the programme, 2,862 data agents have been deployed to assist residents in the field. For the Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) programme, 75,231 recipients were recorded, with 43,433 of them deemed potentially eligible. For the Family Hope Programme (PKH), 68,876 recipients were registered, with 29,458 potentially eligible. “We are actively conducting outreach down to the village and sub-village levels every day to help residents who are not yet accustomed to digital access,” Harda said. He further noted that the Sleman Regency Government is intensifying the AKSI PD (Digital Population Identity Activation) movement to support the reliability of Perlinsos data, a step expected to accelerate the reduction of the poverty rate in Sleman, which stood at 6.73 percent in 2025.
