Sleepy driver, car smashed after hitting busway separator in West Jakarta

A single-vehicle traffic accident occurred on Jalan Panjang in West Jakarta. A car was severely damaged after colliding with a busway separator used by TransJakarta. ‘Tim Angin Barat Perintis Presisi of the West Jakarta Metro Police helped handle the single-vehicle incident in the Jalan Panjang area,’ said AKP Wisnu, Head of Public Relations of the West Jakarta Metropolitan Police, on Friday (6 February 2026). Wisnu said the incident happened in the early hours while police were on patrol. The accident was caused by the driver being drowsy, resulting in hitting the busway separator. There were no fatalities. The vehicle was towed, and it was removed from the separator. The road condition that had temporarily hindered traffic has been cleared to ensure the convenience of other drivers. A tow truck was deployed to remove the car, and traffic returned to normal after the vehicle was cleared. ‘Drive carefully; if you feel sleepy, pull over and rest for a while to reach your destination safely,’ he added.
