Sleepy driver kills two

SALATIGA, Central Java: Two people died and another critically injured when a truck laden with sand crashed head-on with an intercity bus near Blotongan village on Tuesday.

The two occupants of the truck, 44-year old driver Miran and his companion 40-year old Joko Triyono were instantly killed while a passenger of the bus, Mrs. Sugini, is undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.

A witness said the truck had been swerving left and right for sometime before it ran into the approaching bus.

It is suspected that the driver fell asleep at the wheel. (wah/07)
