The head of SKK Migas, Djoko Siswanto, has expressed appreciation to the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) for uncovering the misuse of subsidised fuel (BBM) and LPG in various regions. According to him, cracking down on these illegal practices contributes to maintaining price stability.

“We from SKK Migas wish to convey our highest appreciation and gratitude to the Police and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), particularly to Bareskrim, for their commitment and consistency in law enforcement in the energy sector,” said Djoko during a press conference at the Bhayangkara Field of the National Police Headquarters in South Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4/2026).

He stated that actions against illegal practices, such as unauthorised drilling and oil theft through pipelines, are important steps to ensure proper governance in the energy sector in accordance with regulations. According to Djoko, illegal practices not only cause losses to the state but also disrupt the distribution of subsidised energy to the public.

He mentioned that the government continues to strive to maintain the stability of prices for subsidised BBM and LPG. According to him, this must be supported by strict supervision.

“The government has made every effort to avoid increasing BBM prices, including not raising LPG prices, amid such unpredictable global turbulence,” he explained.

Djoko assessed that supervision and law enforcement in the oil and gas sector contribute to maintaining the national energy supply. He hopes that Bareskrim’s efforts will ensure that subsidy distribution is on target.

“Because we are still exporting LPG, we are obtaining windfall profits, the funds from which can be used to increase subsidies for BBM and LPG, thereby contributing to avoiding price increases for BBM or LPG,” he clarified.

Djoko highlighted reports of alleged involvement of rogue officials in illegal practices in the field. Djoko welcomed the commitment of the TNI and Police to firmly crack down on anyone involved.

“We greatly appreciate what was stated earlier by the Deputy Chief of the TNI’s Pushom, that rogue elements in the field, whether in green or brown uniforms, will be firmly dealt with,” he said.

He hopes that synergy between law enforcement agencies and stakeholders in the energy sector can continue to be strengthened to curb illegal practices. He stated that such steps can help maintain national energy stability.

“Once again, we express our highest appreciation in the current difficult state of the nation in searching for and producing oil and gas, for the crackdown carried out by Bareskrim Polri,” he said.

Previously, Bareskrim Polri uncovered 755 crime scenes (TKP) involving the misuse of subsidised fuel (BBM) and LPG throughout 2025 until April 2026. In total, 672 suspects were arrested in these revelations.

It was stated that these illegal practices have the potential to cause state losses of up to Rp 1.26 trillion, with details of subsidised BBM misuse reaching approximately Rp 516.8 billion and losses from subsidised LPG misuse reaching approximately Rp 749.2 billion.
