JAKARTA: PT SKF Indonesia, a motorcycle spare parts manufacturer, has expanded its production capacity to boost revenue in a move that will create 160 new jobs.

The company's production area has been increased from 8,000 square meters to 20,000 square meters, SKF Indonesia's president director, Ilpo Saarisivu, said Tuesday during the opening ceremony for the new factory.

The expansion of the company, which produces ball bearings, will increase production capacity to 78 million bearings per year from some 20 million at present.

In addition to supplying the domestic market, the company also exports its products, with Malaysia, India and Pakistan being its main export markets. Saarisivu said the extra capacity would allow the company to increase its export destinations in Asia.

The company, a majority stake in which is held by parent company, Sweden's SKF Group, has PT Astra Otoparts as its local partner. (JP/04)
