Residents of Wonokoyo Hamlet, Ngadirejo Village, Tutur District, Pasuruan Regency were shocked by the discovery of human remains in skeletal condition, still clothed, found in the forest at Bukit Keciri.

The remains were discovered by residents on Thursday evening (26 February 2026). However, as it was already dusk, evacuation efforts could only be carried out on Friday (27 February). The body was immediately transported to Mororejo Village, Tosari District for identification.

“The victim’s identity has been established,” said Tutur Police Chief AKP Budi Luhur, as reported by detikJatim on Friday (26 February 2026).

The victim was identified as Kushadi (38), a resident of Ledok Kepor Hamlet, Ngadirejo Village, Tutur District, Pasuruan Regency. The victim, a farmer, had previously informed his family that he was going to work in the Ranupane area, Lumajang.

“The cause of death is still under investigation. Current suspicion is that the victim died from exhaustion whilst walking in search of work and became lost,” explained Budi.

The victim’s family refused to allow an autopsy to be performed on the body. This was formalised in a written statement to allow the family to proceed immediately with Islamic purification rites and burial.
