Sixteen villages affected by floods in Klaten

Residents cross a village road flooded in Cawas, Klaten, Central Java, on 4 March 2026. According to records from the Klaten Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), 16 villages across five sub-districts were affected by floods after heavy rain on Tuesday 3 March. In Cawas, several children waded through floodwater. Administrators at Pondok Pesantren Tahfidzul Qur’an Anas Bin Malik in Cawas moved belongings of santri that were flooded; teaching and learning activities at the pesantren halted as floodwaters reached between 50 centimetres and one metre due to the breaching of the Dengkeng River embankment caused by heavy rainfall on Tuesday 3 March.
