Six-Year-Old Bullying Victim in Central Jakarta Remains Traumatised, Afraid to Meet Other Children

A six-year-old boy identified by the initials MWP, who was bullied at Taman Kramat in Central Jakarta, remains traumatised following an incident that caused him to lose consciousness and required hospitalisation. The victim is still afraid to interact with other children.

The victim’s mother, V (26), said her son frequently expresses his fear after the incident. MWP refuses to return to the area where the attack occurred for fear of further violence.

“He says things like, ‘Mama, I don’t want to go back there, I’m scared,’” V told reporters in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (13/6/2026).

According to V, her son vividly remembers the ordeal. Consequently, he is frightened of the group of children believed to be the perpetrators.

“‘What are you scared of?’ ‘I’m scared of the children, of that gang,’ he said they beat him up,” she recounted.

V said her son has yet to return to their residential area. The trauma has left him unwilling to engage with other children. “He hasn’t gone back there yet,” she confirmed.

The victim’s father, B (29), echoed these sentiments, stating that the trauma was clearly visible for several days after the incident. MWP frequently cried and panicked when encountering other people.

“He was afraid to meet people. Meeting anyone made him genuinely terrified; he would run away and cry. He was completely traumatised,” said B.

This condition persisted for approximately two days after the victim regained consciousness following medical treatment. However, B expressed gratitude that his son’s condition has begun to improve.

“For nearly two days he was quite traumatised. As parents, it was heartbreaking to watch,” he said. “But now, alhamdulillah, he’s doing better. He can meet people, he’s cheerful again, he can communicate, he wants to eat, and his appetite has returned.”

As previously reported, the six-year-old boy was bullied by two teenagers while playing at Taman Kramat on Sunday (7/6). The perpetrators lifted the victim and carried him to an electricity pole, where he was subsequently electrocuted. The two suspects initially fled the scene, then returned to drag the victim away from the pole. Police have since detained the two perpetrators, aged 17 and 16 respectively.
