Six Victims Killed in Virgo Transport 8 Sinking Identified — Names and Origins

Banjarmasin, VIVA – The Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team of the South Kalimantan Regional Police has successfully identified all deceased victims recovered from the sinking of the Virgo Transport 8 in the Java Sea on Sunday, 13 September 2026.

“Of the six bodies found by the joint SAR team, all have now been identified,” said the Head of the Medical and Health Division of South Kalimantan Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Dr Much Sofwan, in Banjarmasin on Tuesday.

The DVI team examined five bodies that arrived at Bhayangkara Hospital in Banjarmasin following a lengthy evacuation process at sea since Sunday, 13 September 2026.

The five were identified as Nurul Rian Hidayat from Pamekasan, Deny Ridzal Saputra from Kediri, Imam Soeparno from Surabaya, Erick Maisul Latif from Garut, and Risyan Kurnia Putra from Garut.

Earlier, on Monday 14 September, the DVI team had identified Reyner Fausta Yosilianto from Malang.

Sofwan said the bodies of Reyner Fausta Yosilianto and Nurul Rian Hidayat had been claimed by their families and flown to Surabaya.

Compensation from Jasa Raharja has been handed to the rightful heirs, whilst the four remaining bodies are still awaiting collection by relatives.

Head of Public Relations at South Kalimantan Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Nur Khamid, urged families who believe their relatives were victims of the Virgo Transport to visit the post-mortem and ante-mortem data collection service.

Basarnas confirmed that 114 victims have been found, comprising 108 survivors and six deceased, meaning 129 people remain missing out of a total of 243 passengers aboard the Virgo Transport. (Ant)
