Six Unpad Disciplines Enter QS World University Rankings By Subject 2026
Six fields of study at Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) have successfully entered the QS World University Rankings By Subject 2026, released on Wednesday (25/3). The six fields include Law ranked 201-250, Agriculture & Forestry ranked 251-300, Pharmacy & Pharmacology ranked 351-400, Economics & Econometrics ranked 401-450, Business & Management Studies ranked 501-550, and Medicine ranked 501-550. The Pharmacy & Pharmacology field has entered the rankings for the first time and is directly positioned in the top 400. “One of the goals that Unpad aims to achieve is to be in the world’s top 300 position by 2029. In this latest QS release, Unpad’s Law and Agriculture fields have successfully broken into the top 300. This will certainly serve as a motivator for Unpad as a whole to reach the top 300 position,” said Unpad Rector Arief S. Kartasasmita on Wednesday (25/3/2026). Nevertheless, the Rector stated that this global ranking is not the main objective. The most important thing to realise is to make Unpad an excellent, inclusive campus that provides positive impacts for the wider community. Unpad’s Core Scientific Pattern, which reads “Bina Mulia Hukum dan Lingkungan Hidup dalam Pembangunan Nasional” (Nurturing Noble Law and Environmental Life in National Development), also serves as the foundation for every activity of the university’s tri dharma. Overall, there are 39 fields of study at Unpad analysed by QS in this ranking period. Six of them have successfully obtained rankings in narrow subjects. Meanwhile, in the broad subject rankings, three fields from Unpad received rankings, namely Life Sciences & Medicine ranked 451-500, Social Sciences & Management ranked 451-500, and Arts & Humanities ranked 501-550. The number of Unpad fields of study that received rankings in QS WUR By Subject has continued to increase since 2021. In that year, only one field entered. In 2022 there were two fields, in 2023 four fields, in 2024 five fields, in 2025 six fields, and in 2026 it remains six fields of study. Head of the University Strategic Development and Reputation Unit (SPSRU) Unpad, Yudi Ahmad Faisal, explained that the increase in Unpad’s fields of knowledge entering the QS WUR By Subject reflects the consistency in improving the quality and impact of research, strengthening national and international research networks, as well as the relevance of graduates who are adaptive to the needs of the workforce and society. “Unpad’s strategic plan (Renstra) mandates improvements in the quality and quantity of collaborative research, strengthening the innovation ecosystem, and curriculum transformation based on industry and societal needs. The logical consequence of this integrated strengthening of the tri dharma is the sustainable increase in Unpad’s global reputation,” he concluded.
