Six University of Jember students affected by earthquake in NTT

The Vice Chair of the Public Relations Working Team at the University of Jember (Unej), Iim Fahmi Ilman, said that six students come from districts affected by the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

“From data held by the Academic Section, there are 58 Unej students from various levels who originate from NTT. Of that number, six students have been affected by the earthquake,” he said in Jember on Wednesday.

According to him, the six students come from Ngada Regency (two people), East Manggarai Regency (two people), and Sikka Regency (two people).

“However, to date neither the Academic Section nor the faculties have received official reports or complaints from students from NTT who have been affected by the earthquake disaster,” he said.

“Referring to the flood disaster in Sumatra, students affected by a disaster can receive assistance according to their individual circumstances,” he added.

Previously, Unej also mobilised aid for communities affected by the earthquake in NTT after leading a flag ceremony on 17 August 2026.

“The circular provides an opportunity for the Unej academic community to contribute to assistance for residents affected by the NTT earthquake,” he said.

He said that once the aid has been collected, it will be channelled through Nusa Cendana University (Undana) in Kupang, which serves as a hub for aid to earthquake-affected residents from state universities (PTN).
