The journey through the Trans-Java Toll Road offers more than just convenient intercity access, with several rest areas featuring distinctive and creative designs.

Some of these rest areas boast attractive architecture, natural scenery, and unusual facilities for a rest stop. Several unique rest areas worth visiting whilst travelling on the Trans-Java Toll Road are highlighted below.

One location’s petrol station canopy was previously awarded recognition from the Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI) as Indonesia’s most unique canopy. Additionally, this rest area was among the first to feature hotel facilities. The presence of a hotel provides an alternative accommodation option for travellers who wish to rest longer before continuing their journey.

Another area was previously a sugar factory built during the colonial era. The building was subsequently renovated and converted into a rest area. Nevertheless, the distinctive sugar factory structure has been preserved, maintaining the vintage atmosphere felt to the present day. This location is positioned at the foot of Mount Lawu.
