UN peacekeepers in Lebanon (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon/UNIFIL) have suffered further casualties from attacks. In the past month, six peacekeepers have been killed in Lebanon.

UNIFIL conveyed the sorrowful news via its X account @UNIFIL_. Corporal Rico Pramudia (31), an Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) soldier assigned to UNIFIL, passed away after being hospitalised due to severe injuries from an attack in southern Lebanon at the end of last month.

In addition to Indonesians, UN peacekeepers killed in Lebanon include those from France. Over the past month, four Indonesian soldiers and two French military members have died due to tensions in Lebanon.

Attacks targeting UN peacekeepers have occurred amid rising tensions between the Israeli military and Hezbollah.

These attacks on UN peacekeepers have been strongly condemned by various parties. They could even be considered war crimes if carried out intentionally.

“Deliberate attacks on peacekeepers constitute a grave violation of international humanitarian law and Security Council Resolution 1701, and may be categorised as war crimes,” stated UNIFIL on its X account @UNIFIL_ on Friday (24/4/2026).

Here is the list of UN peacekeepers killed in attacks in Lebanon:

The UN Urges Attacks to be Stopped

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed condolences over the death of TNI member Corporal Rico Pramudia (31), a UNIFIL peacekeeper in Lebanon. Antonio urged Israel to stop the attacks.

“I am saddened to learn that another Indonesian UNIFIL peacekeeper has died from his injuries following an incident in March, when an artillery shell fired from an Israeli Defence Forces tank hit a @UNIFIL position in southern Lebanon, according to UNIFIL’s preliminary findings,” said Guterres in his statement on social media X, on Saturday (25/4).

Guterres also extended deep condolences to the families of the victims. He prayed for the recovery of other peacekeepers injured in the incident.

The UN notes that to date, six UNIFIL personnel in Lebanon have been killed. He urged Israel to immediately cease attacks on Lebanon.

“Six peacekeepers serving with UNIFIL have now been killed and several others seriously injured following recent incidents amid hostilities between Hezbollah and the Israeli Defence Forces,” he said.
