Six Sub-districts Hit by Water Crisis, Serang Regency Declares Drought Emergency Status

Serang Regent Ratu Rachmatuzakiyah said six sub-districts are experiencing a water crisis or drought. The Serang Regency Government has therefore declared a drought emergency alert status.

“We have declared a drought emergency alert status because several sub-districts are already affected by drought. There are six to seven sub-districts,” said Ratu Zakiyah on Wednesday (19/8/2026).

Drought is currently affecting several villages in Tirtayasa, Carenang, Petir, Binuang, Baros, and Ciomas sub-districts.

The declaration of emergency status serves as the basis for the Serang Regency Government to coordinate quickly and carry out response measures.

“So that we can find the right solution, whether through the province or the central government. Therefore, I ask for everyone’s prayers and support, and hope this dry season will not be long,” she added.

The drought emergency alert status is in effect for the next month. She hopes conditions in Serang Regency will improve.

“Perhaps initially for one month, after that we will review it again. Hopefully conditions will improve and we will lift the emergency status,” she said.

Ratu Zakiyah stressed that she will continue to seek solutions so that future droughts or disasters in Serang Regency can be minimised.

“According to BMKG, the dry season will be long, but I ask for everyone’s prayers that it will not be prolonged,” she said.
