Six Students Named as Suspects in Chaotic May Day Action in Bandung, One Carried Molotov

The Head of Public Relations for West Java Police, Kombes Hendra Rochmawan, stated that initially seven suspected perpetrators were secured. After a series of examinations, six students were designated as suspects. “Following intensive examinations, six individuals who are students—namely MRN, MRA, RS, MFNA, FAP, and HIS—have been designated as suspects,” Hendra said on Saturday (2/5/2026). Several dangerous pieces of evidence were seized from the perpetrators, including two Molotov cocktails, petrol, and certain group attributes such as a flag inscribed with ‘Punk Football Hate Cops’ and stickers for ‘Jaringan Konspirasi Sel-Sel Api’. “We have identified the roles of each suspect. Some prepared the Molotov cocktails, others carried out the throwing, and there were provocateurs in the action,” he explained. Police are still delving deeper and searching for other perpetrators involved in the riot. According to Hendra, the anarchic incident resulted in considerable serious damage to several public facilities in Bandung City. “Currently, the Resmob team from Ditreskrimum Polda Jabar is continuing developments to pursue other perpetrators through CCTV analysis and data extraction from the suspects’ mobile phones,” he clarified.
