Six students in Cicantayan, Sukabumi Regency, are alleged to have been victims of molestation by the head of an Islamic boarding school, identified as MSL. The case was revealed after the victims dared to speak out about the incident.

Legal counsel for the victims from LBH Pro Ummat, Rangga Suria Danuningrat, revealed that they received information from the victims’ families on Monday (23/2). Currently, six victims have been identified, but only two have filed reports.

“The average age of the victims was 14-15 years old at the time of the incident. The abuse occurred from 2021, and now the victims are 18 years old,” said Rangga at the Sukabumi City Police Headquarters, as reported by detikJabar on Thursday (26/2/2026).

Rangga said that the case of abuse was almost exposed in 2023. However, the victims’ families allegedly continued to experience verbal intimidation.

“So far, there have been no threats of violence, but there were statements like ‘don’t tell anyone, this is a disgrace, we’re worried about the reputation of the Islamic boarding school’,” he said, imitating the stories from the victims’ parents.

Enticement Through Traditional Healing and Spiritual Guidance

He revealed that the alleged perpetrator, MSL, used enticement through traditional healing and spiritual guidance as a modus operandi. The victims were powerless to resist because they felt that the head of the Islamic boarding school had power.

“Initially, there was enticement through traditional healing, and then there was spiritual guidance so that they could gain knowledge,” he said.

Acting Head of Public Relations of the Sukabumi City Police, Ipda Ade Ruli, confirmed the report. He said that the case is now being directed to be reported to the PPA Unit of the Sukabumi Police Criminal Investigation Unit.

“Yes, it is true that the victims, along with their parents and legal counsel, have conducted a consultation. However, because the crime scene is in the jurisdiction of another area, we have advised them to file a report to the Sukabumi Police in Palabuhanratu,” said Ade.
