Six high school and vocational school students in Cianjur have been detained by the Cianjur Resort Police after a video of them engaging in a one-on-one duel in a forest went viral on social media. The students’ schools and parents were subsequently asked to collect them on Saturday, 27 June 2026. Cianjur Police Chief, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Alexander Yurikho Hadi, stated the six students, from a high school in Cibeber sub-district and a vocational school in Campaka sub-district, were involved in the duel after imitating content widely circulated on social media. The students, identified as IT, SH, MK, UJ, RD, and KS, claimed they were frequently challenged by students from another school, leading them to arrange a meeting in a forest on the border between the Cibeber and Campaka sub-districts.

Police also detained a recent school graduate who appeared in the video. The students are currently undergoing examination by officers. The police chief stated the case will be processed in accordance with juvenile justice regulations, particularly if criminal elements are found, but emphasised that rehabilitation remains the priority to prevent them from repeating the offence. To anticipate similar incidents, schools and parents have been urged to increase supervision and attention towards children, both within the school environment and in their residential areas.

One of the detained students, IT (16), admitted he and his friends accepted the challenge after being frequently taunted via social media messages by students from the vocational school in Campaka. They then arranged to meet in a forest near the border between the two sub-districts, where the duel was recorded and subsequently disseminated on social media.
