Six ships nabbed for alleged smuggling

JAKARTA: The Navy nabbed six ships on Tuesday in the waters off Rupat island in Riau province, on an allegation that they had smuggled food into Indonesia.

The ships were apprehended because they were not equipped with the proper documents, according to a press release by the Indonesian Navy on Thursday.

They are Berkat Saudara Jaya, Asia Maju Sunly, Sumber Santri, Samudera Raya, Hasmiah Jaya and Dermawan Jaya.

The ships carried various kinds of allegedly smuggled foods, such as raw sugar, rice and soybeans. -- Antara
