Six Residents Suffer Breathing Difficulties Due to Heavy Smoke from Kemayoran Blaze

Six residents experienced breathing difficulties after being exposed to thick smoke from a fire that engulfed a densely populated residential area on Kemayoran Gempol Street in Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. All victims have been evacuated and received medical treatment at Hermina Kemayoran Hospital.

“Six victims suffering from breathing difficulties due to thick smoke have been taken for treatment at Hermina Kemayoran Hospital,” said Jakarta Central Police Chief Kombes Reynold Hutagalung at the scene, according to Antara on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.

Personnel from the police, TNI, local government, and Brimob have been deployed to assist in rescuing residents, securing salvageable belongings, and supporting firefighting operations.

“Police, TNI, and local government personnel are on-site, particularly from Jakarta Central Police District, Metro Jakarta Police, and Brimob teams, with approximately 200 personnel deployed to assist in evacuating victims,” said Reynold.

In addition to evacuation efforts, officers have implemented traffic management and closed several access roads to the fire site to allow fire trucks and ambulances to move more quickly.

Firefighters have reinforced their presence at the Kemayoran residential fire site and have successfully prevented the flames from spreading to other structures.

“The fire is currently under control and being cooled down,” said Central Jakarta Mayor Arifin to detikcom on Monday, 2 June.

Currently, 165 firefighters are working to extinguish the blaze, with officers striving to prevent the fire from spreading to other structures.

The fire was reported to the fire department at 8:55 PM WIB on Monday, 1 June, with firefighting operations commencing at 9:05 PM WIB.

The cause and sequence of events leading to the fire remain unknown, and there are no final casualty figures available.
