Six New Groups Proposed for Free TransJakarta Rides, Here's the List
The Jakarta Transport Council (DTKJ) has proposed expanding the recipients of the TransJakarta Free Service Card (KLG) by adding six new groups. This proposal aims to protect vulnerable groups and low-income communities (MBR) amid plans to adjust public transport fares in Jakarta. DTKJ Chairman Sugihardjo stated that this expansion will be included in the revision of Governor Regulation Number 33 of 2025. The move is intended to ensure residents’ mobility is maintained, especially for those with special needs or high dependence on public transport. Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung confirmed that his administration is conducting a final review of the proposal. According to him, the addition of subsidised groups is a logical consequence if adjustments are made to TransJakarta and TransJabodetabek ticket prices. ‘We are calculating which groups might be given additions beyond the existing 15 categories. Whether it increases by six or another number, it will be decided together with the new fare,’ Pramono said in Central Jakarta on Thursday (9/7). Currently, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government provides free services to 15 community groups. If the DTKJ proposal is approved, the total number of beneficiaries receiving full TransJakarta subsidies will increase significantly to create a more inclusive transport system.
