Six nabbed for fake bank notes

Bekasi Police arrested six people in three separate locations on Friday for their alleged role in the distribution of fake Rp 50,000 bank notes in the Greater Jakarta area.

Chief of Bekasi Police, detective chief Adj. Comr. Didik Suyadi said two of the six people, identified only by the initials DDI, a resident of Bojonggede, Bogor and RDI, a resident of Bantar Gebang, Bekasi, were caught red-handed during a transaction in Cilandak, South Jakarta.

The two people were thought to be the key suspects of the crime as they usually sold the Rp 50,000 fake bank notes for Rp 12,000 to those who wanted to distribute them.

The fake bank notes were ordered from AGS, who was employed by a printing company.

Other suspects ARM, a resident of Sukabumi, West Java and AGS were arrested in the latter's house in Parung, Bogor.

Didik said two other people RUD, a resident of Kedung Halang, Bogor and CCI, a resident of Ciomas, Bogor, were arrested in the Harapan Mulya area of Bekasi.

Police said the six people would be charged under Article 244 and 245 of the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years imprisonment. --JP
