Six more rebels surrender
BANDA ACEH, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam: Six Free Aceh Movement
(GAM) rebels surrendered to the Indonesian Military (TNI) at
Bunin village in East Aceh district on Thursday.
Spokesman for the operations command's information task force
Lt. Col. Asep Sapari said on Friday the rebels also handed over
an AK-45 rifle, 60 rounds of ammunition and one (HT) radio to the
military.
"The six rebels who surrendered to the TNI troops in East Aceh
are being detained at the TNI command post for further
investigation," he said.
The six were identified as Salim alias Teungku Dorin Daun, 40,
Sofyan alias Polwan, 25, Basri alias Pangcukup, 22, Tatar alias
Tunas Muda, 23, Rasep alias Pilot, 22, and Etjeh alias Diego, 25.
Also in East Aceh, soldiers confiscated a pistol, six rounds
of ammunition, and two pairs of shoes from Aceh rebels during a
shootout in Idie Rayeuek subdistrict.
Asep said the gunfight between the troops and rebels in Krueng
Sabee, Aceh Jaya district, left two unidentified rebels dead.
