Six Members of NTT Police Drug Unit Implicated in Extortion Allegations
Six members of the Directorate of Narcotics Investigation of the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police are implicated in alleged extortion and abuse of authority cases attributed to the suspended NTT Police Director of Narcotics Investigation, Police Senior Commissioner ATB.
The six narcotics investigators are currently being questioned by the Professionalism and Ethics Unit of NTT Regional Police in relation to alleged extortion against two suspects.
The six police officers being examined by the Professionalism and Ethics Unit include Senior Inspector HSB, Inspector BB, Inspector OT, Brigadier AI, Brigadier First Class LBM, and Brigadier JG.
Meanwhile, Police Senior Commissioner ATB is being questioned by the Professionalism Unit of the National Police Headquarters.
Regarding the examination of Senior Commissioner ATB by the National Police Headquarters Professionalism Unit, Henry was unable to provide further details when contacted by CNN Indonesia on Sunday 15 March.
However, Henry has not disclosed the timing of the examination of Senior Commissioner ATB, nor does he know the results of the examination.
“Regarding the examination results, I do not yet have confirmation, as the examination is being conducted at Police Headquarters,” he stated.
Henry explained that the six members of the Directorate of Narcotics Investigation involved in the case with Senior Commissioner ATB are currently undergoing examination at the Professionalism and Ethics Unit of NTT Regional Police.
The six individuals are Senior Inspector HSB, Inspector BB, Inspector OT, Brigadier AI, Brigadier First Class LBM, and Brigadier JG.
He stated that following the examination results, a special case conference will be held between the National Police Headquarters Professionalism Unit and the Professionalism and Ethics Unit of NTT Regional Police.
“The case conference will determine the legal status of Senior Commissioner ATB and the six other members allegedly involved in the case,” Henry said.
He also urged the public to fully support the process being conducted by NTT Regional Police to cleanse the institution of practices by members that have tarnished the reputation of the National Police.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Professionalism and Ethics Unit of NTT Regional Police, First Class Senior Inspector Muhammad Andra Wardhana, explained that initial examinations have been conducted on several personnel including Senior Inspector HSB, Inspector BB, Inspector OT, Brigadier AI, Brigadier First Class LBM, and Brigadier JG.
Additionally, various pieces of evidence related to financial flows have been secured as part of the internal investigation process.
He stated that following the examination results, NTT Regional Police will also conduct a special case conference with the National Police Headquarters Professionalism Unit to determine the legal status of Senior Commissioner ATB and the six other members allegedly involved in the case.
If proven to have violated the Professional Code of Ethics of the National Police as stipulated in National Police Regulation Number 7 of 2022, those involved may face strict sanctions, including dismissal without honour.
