Six killed in sea mishap

DENPASAR, Bali: Six people drowned and seven others are missing after a passenger boat overturned in rough seas off the port of Padangbai on Sunday.

The Jaya Tirta was carrying 35 people on board, five more than its maximum capacity, according to Antara. Beginning the ill- fated journey in Padangbai, the boat was half way to its destination, Nusa Penida, when the accident occurred.

Rescue workers and passing boats managed to save 20 people, while searches continued yesterday for the missing seven. (emb)
