Six killed in Manila explosion
MANILA (AP): An explosion at an illegal factory making
fireworks for New Year's Eve killed six people and critically
injured two others, police said yesterday.
It was the ninth explosion of fireworks materials this year in
Bulacan province north of Manila, officials said.
Workers at the small factory, located in an abandoned pig pen
just several meters away from private homes, were apparently
mixing chemicals when a bottle fell, setting off the explosion,
San Ildefonso police said.
The two injured people both received third-degree burns, they
said.
