Six killed by diarrhea

KUPANG: Six people have died of diarrhea and another of
dengue fever when disease hit this East Nusatenggara province
early January.

Unconfirmed reports from the East Sumba regency said that two
out of the 22 people attacked by diarrhea have died. But head of
the provincial health office Dr. Agus Y. Berek said as of this
weekend he had not received any more news of the outbreak from
the local health office.
In Kupang regency 50 people are suffering from dengue fever
and of them one has died. On Rotte island 44 people are suffering
from the fever, Antara said.
Dr. Agus said that his office has dispatched a medical team to
Rotte to help the local health office in their efforts to
alleviate the suffering of the people. (tis)
